As We are living in 2024 ( Tajinder Mukhi ) in Canada and its not though official that country is in Recession but Canadians are struggling to survive with the current income package. Grocery prices are sky rocketing, taxes are increasing and in a parallel world housing market of Toronto and Ontario is getting unaffordable. Here is a break down for you !
Toronto:
- Housing Costs: Toronto is known for its high real estate prices. As of 2024, the cost of buying a home in Toronto can be quite steep, with prices often exceeding $1 million for a detached house. Condominiums are slightly more affordable but still costly, with prices typically ranging from $600,000 to $800,000, depending on location and size.
- Rent: Monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in downtown Toronto can range from $2,500 to $3,500. In more suburban areas, rent might be a bit lower but still significant.
- Cost of Living: Toronto has a relatively high cost of living compared to other Canadian cities. Groceries, transportation, and dining out can be quite expensive.
Ontario (Outside Toronto):
- Housing Costs: Prices in other parts of Ontario are generally lower than in Toronto, though they can vary widely. In cities like Ottawa, Hamilton, and Kitchener-Waterloo, housing is more affordable. For example, the average price for a home in Ottawa might be around $600,000 to $700,000, while prices in smaller towns or rural areas can be much lower.

In 2025 Canada is having Federal Elections and Canadians want smooth stress free and affordable life, if Liberal Party fails to provide it than Conservative party seems to have edge and may form a strong majority Government.
